An injection packer should be selected as part of the complete repair system. Start with the repair specification and substrate, then check the installation method, dimensions, connection, injection material and allowable working pressure.
Begin with the repair, not the diameter
A packer connects injection equipment to a structure. It does not determine whether a crack should be bonded, sealed or monitored. Establish the cause of the defect and the required repair outcome before selecting the hardware.
For a structural repair, the responsible designer should define the repair approach. A moving crack and a dormant crack can require different materials and detailing.
Compare the installation methods
- Mechanical packers clamp into prepared drilled holes. The body, sealing element and borehole must be matched.
- Drive-in packers use the specified body geometry to seat in a prepared hole. A suitable installation aid may be required.
- Adhesive packers bond to the surface over a prepared crack. Their performance depends on the substrate, adhesive and surface preparation.
- Wedge packers seat directly in suitable cracks. Their geometry must match the actual crack width and condition.
Check the complete connection
Record the nipple style, thread and coupling. A conical nipple, flat-head nipple and threaded connection need matching equipment. Similar-looking components are not necessarily interchangeable.
Nominal body diameter is not a universal drill-size instruction. For example, some source-listed 13 mm steel packers specify a 14 mm hole. Refer to the exact model and confirm the supplied specification.
Match material and pressure
Confirm compatibility between the injection material and every wetted part of the system. Use the permitted working pressure of the complete assembly, including hoses, couplings and packers. The structure and repair procedure can impose a lower limit than the hardware rating.
Do not infer a pressure rating from material alone. Two steel packers can have different connection arrangements and operating limits.
What to include in an enquiry
Send the product name, intended application, substrate, specified borehole size, injection material, coupling type and quantity. Include any unusual access restrictions. A sample can help check dimensions and physical fit before a larger order.
Compare the product range or request a sample.
These guides support product selection. Project-specific repair design, installation and working limits must be confirmed for the actual structure and injection system.
